Post Card List Extravaganza Questionnaire

Hello! If you’re here, you have likely received my message about your name having been added to the official Post Card List. The basic idea is this: using photos taken during my travels I will be making postcards and would love to send one to you! If you would please take a minute to fill out the form below it will help me figure out 1) where to send the card and 2) what sorts of cards to make. Also, for those of you curious about why I am doing this I have tried to answer these questions below.

Post Card List Extravaganza Questionnaire
Please fill out your address as it is written in your country. If possible, please provide a semi-permanent address at which you will be able to receive mail through 2020.
What type of scenery might you like to see on the card?
Multiple selections are possible. See 'images' page for examples of each category.
Countries marked with asterisk* are ones I have not yet visited, but plan to get to during the year. As time tends to fly by (especially when traveling), I may not make it to each and every destination. Therefore, please make sure at least one selection is a place I have already been to.
If there's a place you would simply love to receive a card from, let me know here! I cannot guarantee I will go there, but just your request might inspire me to do so !

Now some may be wondering…

Why is Nathaniel sending postcards around the world ?

The short answer is very simple: Nathaniel likes postcards. The list has existed unofficially for a few years already, and some of you have already received a card or two, or accompanied me as I search for cards in your city before running off to catch my train.
Deciding to use photos to create the cards was simply the next step and has turned into a fun little project. It’s a way for me to capture the essence of a place I visit, a way to share a piece of that place through more than just an Instagram story.

When will I receive this post card ? How will you have time to write and mail them while travelling ?

The plan is to send all the cards by next summer 2020. As far as when within that timeframe you wil receive the card, that will have to remain a surprise. Perhaps around a birthday, a holiday, when I come across a place that reminds me of you or I think you would like…we shall see.
Finding the time to write them will be challenging, but that’s what waiting time in the airport is for, right ? I should mention now that the cards will not actually be written or mailed from the location they represent (sorry to those who are looking for the stamp), since time must be taken to go through and select the photos, have the cards printed, write them, etc. However, it is possible they will be mailed from another interesting destination, so watch out ! 🙂

Is this free for me?

Yes ! The postcard will of course be sent without the expectation of anything in return, the simple fact that you are on the list means you have already earned it. However, support is always appreciated :

  • I definitely value advice on where to go and what to see (and of course what to eat) in your city! And if you have time to meet for a coffee, take a tour around or even host me for a night, I’d be thrilled to see you!  To those who have already done these things, THANK YOU !!
  • If you prefer to help offset the cost of the card printing, envelopes, stamps, etc. through small  monetary contributions, you may also do so here.

  • Finally, if you feel so inclined to send me a postcard from your town or somewhere you’ve been, please do not hesitate to ask for my address.

What if my card never arrives ? Are you worried about it getting lost in the mail ?

Ehhh…yes. This can be an issue, especially with international mail. I have had some not so great luck with postal services around the world and too many cards have failed to reach their destination. This is why I ask for your exact address as it’s written in your country to avoid any confusion. I will also be snapping a photo of every card I send so if it ever gets lost, I can at least send the photo before mailing another card.

BTW... How are you travelling so much ?

Good question, I have put together a few answers here.
